Dark blueberry and violets abound in this excellent organic Syrah from the highly regarded Seresin vineyard in Marlborough.

We were so fortunate to get access to a small parcel of organically grown Syrah from the Seresin vineyard. Beautiful dark fruit from a stellar red Marlborough vintage.

This fruit screamed whole bunch. So, naturally, we went 100%. All in. Little bit of foot stomping to get the ferment going, then sealed up for a week or two to do its thing, before a final plunge before pressing. It then hung out in old barriques until bottling in February.

Marlborough Syrah via the Northern Rhone. Dark blueberry and violet florals shot through with black pepper. The palate finished with layers of spicy whole bunch tannin and juicy acid.

We also dressed it up in a new label! Reflecting the fun loving and risk taking aspect of Scout that directs our winemaking

About Scout Wines

I have been working in wine around the world for the past 13 years, travelling to all corners to learn, understand and appreciate great wine. We have worked alongside many great winemakers who have influenced our ideas on style and taste. After many years of dreaming, considering and throwing ideas out there, Scout Wines was officially launched in 2017.

Scout the name takes inspiration from Jean Louis ‘Scout’ Finch, the narrator and protagonist of Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird. Scout is both a questioner and an observer, something we believe important at Scout Wines. Throughout our winemaking careers we have questioned all aspects of grape growing and winemaking, challenging ideas and practices, but also observing how wines are crafted and perfected.

Scout Wines is about putting these observations and ideas into practice.
