Palliser Estate Riesling (12 Bottles) 95 Points Martinborough, New Zealand

by Wines By Cellars 0 orders

Pours a bright, pale straw with green flecks around the rim. A youthful, complex nose showing hints of freshly squeezed lime juice, orange blossom, star jasmine, honeysuckle and orange peel over a core of ripe, crunchy apple.

Lovely purity of fruit on the dry palate, with just a hint of apple sweetness adding flesh and volume to the bony structure. Concentrated, juicy and vibrant, yet retaining a delicacy and lightness of touch thanks to the mouth-watering acidity and floral lift, this is a classic example of dry Riesling from a classic Marlborough vintage.

About Palliser Estate

Palliser isn’t just about our past history we’re also planning ahead for our future history.

The Wharekauhau vineyard is certified organic and the Winery and Om Santi blocks are undergoing conversion due for certification in 2021. Other vineyards will follow in due course. We feel this will provide the truest representation of sense of place as well as improving the soil for future generations.

About Martinborough
The Martinborough Terrace, where we grow our grapes, is a small but very special area of land located at the southern end of the North Island. Framed by the Ruamahanga and Huangarua Rivers which helped carve out the Terrace centuries ago. The land is a stony silt loam overlaying varying depths of ancient free draining river gravels. The climate is dry with frosts and strong winds challenging us at every turn but when the harvest comes all the hard work is more than worth it.

We own seven vineyards on the Terrace. Although they are within walking distance of each other they are all produce quite distinctive wine styles reflecting the differences in soils and micro climates. It’s a perfect combination that, for us, creates perfect wines.
