The production of “Crémant d’Alsace” meets very strict and qualitatively monitored production conditions.

The grapes must be harvested healthy and whole as required by the legislation identical to that for the production of Champagne.

The vinification is also regulated according to the Champagne method. After the traditional fermentation of the base wine, it is in the bottles that the “prise de mousse”, that is to say the second fermentation, will take place.

After a long period of aging on slats, these bottles will be stirred patiently to gradually tilt them on their tips. This last operation will allow the deposit of lees to collect in the neck while waiting for the moment of disgorging.
Each bottle will then be permanently corked and muzzled.

About Gustave Lorentz Wines

The story of Lorentz’s family shared love of wine, the most beautiful of ardours, begins in Bergheim in 1836. Over the generations they have striven to spotlight the unique geology of their terroirs in the heart of Alsace vineyards while preserving the singular expression of each grape variety.

Today, it is Georges Lorentz, who is the sixth generation, who holds the reins of the family winery. Clara his daughter will become the wine maker in about 3 or 4 years ! Driven by this passion of wine, our winery has turned in 2012 its 35 ha in property in organic viticulture producing certified organic wines for more than 10 years. In order to elaborate exceptional wines, we have invested 7 M Euros in a brand new high-performance production tool in 2015, including more than 60 stainless steel tanks.

The philosophy of Gustave Lorentz is to produce gastronomic wines (well balanced, clean, fresh, pure, elegant and mostly dry) and we are exclusively selling them to hotels, restaurants, specialist wine shops, wine bars and to private customers. Gustave Lorentz generates 65 % of its sales through export, an activity which is in the DNA of Gustave Lorentz for more than 100 years, and can boast of being available in over 75 countries throughout the world and within the TOP 10 largest exporter of Alsace wines!
