Wise Wine 2018 Eagle Bay Series Shiraz (6 Bottles) Margaret River

by Wines By Cellars 0 orders

Eagle Bay Shiraz is produced from small, very select parcels of Margaret River fruit chosen to be the Best of the Best and to showcase true varietal and regional wine qualities.

Due to our strict fruit quality criteria, production of Eagle Bay Series wines is extremely limited to only a few hundred dozen of each style. Each bottle is individually numbered.

This small batched single vineyard wine is sourced from the Maschmedt vineyard on the Eastern side of the Wilyabrup sub-region. The selected fruit went to an open top fermenter for a long, gentle maceration on skins and then underwent 9 months maturation in a combination of new (50%) and 1 year old French oak barriques.

Tasting Notes
Bright ruby red in colour, with a black/purple interior, this wine has a vibrant, perfumed nose of red cherry and blueberry, with hints of spice and white pepper. The new oak provides complexing notes of char, delicatessen meats and vanillin that will continue to develop with time. This is a medium weight wine made in the classic WA cool climate style.

The Margaret River region is famous for two things: it’s dramatic coastline and boutique vineyards. Wise Wine, nestled in the hills overlooking Eagle Bay, is the only winery in the region to combine both. While tasting our award winning wines at our Cellar Door or adjoining Wise Vineyard Restaurant, you can drink in the views of our vineyard, the surrounding old-growth forests and the pristine ocean of Geographe Bay beyond.

However we’re not all beauty and no brains. James Halliday writes Wise is an “Outstanding winery capable of producing wines of the highest calibre” rating Wise Wine with 5 stars for three consecutive years.
Wise Wines was established in 1991 by biochemist Dr Ron Wise.

Our flagship range, Eagle Bay Wines, is an expression of our magic vineyard and is made from estate grown fruit. For our other ranges, our winemakers select fruit from WA’s premier cool climate viticulture regions. This freedom allows them to match the best grower for a particular varietal.
