Viticulture
This Late Harvest non-vintage wine is made from the last hand-picked and family-owned Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling grapes in the early stages of winter. Marlborough’s 2500 sunshine hours per annum and freezing overnight temperatures mean that diurnal climate and alluvial soils are the basis for this Trocken beerenauslee style of wine.
Winemaking
Organically-grown Riesling & Sauvignon Blanc grapes were handpicked and sorted prior to gentle pressing to extract as much of the nectar as possible. The reduced moisture content of the grapes has allowed the full concentration of flavours. Slow fermentation allowed the wine to develop classic botrytis aromas of citrus peel, apricots, marmalade, and exotic tropical fruit. This leads to persistant flavours of candied citrus peel, marmalade and macadamia nuts on the palate.
