Ata Rangi Crimson Pinot Noir 2019 (12 Bottles) Martinborough, New Zealand

by Wines By Cellars 0 orders

The nose is complex and beguiling with notes of cranberry, raspberry, carraway and an earthy spice note.

This release has delivered a finely structured palate, with a gentle sweet entry and enticing bramble fruits and finishes with a flourish of fine savoury tannins – classic Martinborough.

The winemaking philosophy is the same as for our signature Pinot Noir: no enzymes or yeasts are added, providing a hands-off, traditional approach which we feel more truly expresses the site

Ata Rangi, meaning “dawn sky” or “new beginning” in Maori, is a small, family-owned Martinborough producer. Founder Clive Paton is one of the pioneers of Pinot Noir in New Zealand, planting his first vines on the stony terrace in 1980.

Winemaker Helen Masters focuses on traditional winemaking techniques, with organic practices undertaken in the vineyards, to produce the finest quality wines that best reflect the terroir and features of each season. Ata Rangi was honoured in 2010 with the inaugural Tipuranga Teitei o Aotearoa or “Grand Cru of New Zealand,” one of only two New Zealand estates to have received this accolade.
